It’s that time of the year again! On the 21st of February 2024, DesiZone Radio will be celebrating 19 years of incredible music and unforgettable memories!

And what’s a celebration without a special treat? This year, we’re extending our Happy Hour to last an entire 24 hours! That’s right, from midnight to midnight (Central European Time), it’s all about more music, more requests, and non-stop entertainment.

We could never have reached this milestone without your love and support. Thank you to everyone who’s been part of this journey. Let’s make this 19th anniversary one for the books! 🎶❤️

Listen to DesiZone on PS5 / Xbox through Discord

You can now listen to DesiZone Radio, Desi Hits 2000s and Nostalgic Bollywood 90s while you are gaming on Playstation 5 or Xbox. Just create a Discord account, join our Discord server, Link your Discord account to Xbox or Playstation & join one of the voice channels to listen to the radio. You can transfer the voice channel to your gaming console.

You can also search & request (unlimited) songs through the discord mobile app, official web app or desktop app.

Friday's = New Music

New music will be added every Friday @ 12pm (CET). Are we missing songs? Report it in the Discord Chat app so the admin can verify and add any missing songs. (Hindi/Urdu & Punjabi songs only. And on DesiZone Radio only songs from 2010 or later, for older songs you should go to the other DesiZone stations. 😉).

Did you know you can easily search & request songs from the Discord Chat app? We even have a Bollywood Music Trivia bot in testing phase, based on songs from DesiZone Radio, Desi Hits 2000s and Nostalgic Bollywood 90s!. Just try it out (Use the command !trivia), test your Bollywood music knowledge and earn ÐƵ Points. We are still improving the bot, so your feedback is welcome 😎.

Added Top 21 Requested Punjabi Songs

For the Top 21 requested songs of the year charts, the top 21 requested Punjabi songs has been added and the Top 21 requested pop songs (which consisted of Hindi, Punjabi, etc.) has been changed to Top 21 Requested Hindi Pop songs. ðŸ¤Ÿ

User Playlists are Public by default

When you create a playlist, it will be set Public by default. All the created playlists are now set to public.

You can still turn off this setting on your playlist(s).

The playlists are at the moment not visible for others. This feature will come next year.

When your playlist is set to public, it can be selected by us to be played on the radio. ðŸ˜‰

2 Streaming servers taken down

Unfortunately we had to take down 2 streaming servers. See our WIKI to see which streaming url we support.

Because we were busy fixing another streaming server and updating the webplayer on the website, we were not able to update the radio with the latest songs.

Regarding last week and next months

Last week there were some interruptions on the radio stations because we changed to a new ISP for faster connection. Most things are working now, but you can expect some small interruptions.

Regarding updates for the upcoming months, we are focussing more on the back-end of the radio's. So less new front-end features/visual changes will be released.

Our next focus is:

- to implement HTTPS support for our streams. No downtime is expected for this.
- to implement HTTPS encryption on de website. We expect that the website will be down for a short while.
- to increase the time you will be logged in.
 

We will try to add more new songs to DesiZone Radio frequently.

Tue 22nd June - 12 hours downtime expected

On Tuesday June 22nd, all 3 radio stations will be offline for almost 12 hours due to another maintenance which could not be 100% completed on the last maintenance. Requesting songs will not be possible. 

On Wednesday 23rd June, a downtime of max 15 minutes will be expected because of an ISP change.

Shoutcast, the streaming provider are having issues at the moment. In order to listen, you can use the webplayer or mobile apps like Audials, Zemo Player & RadioGalaxy.

5min expected downtime on Monday 21st April

Expected downtime on Monday 21st april as mentioned from Shoutcast, the streaming service:

 

Dear broadcaster,

 

Please note that Monday April 12 during the day, the Shoutcast services will undergo scheduled maintenance to improve our infrastructure as a whole and fix other service bugs.

 

This maintenance allows our teams to finalize our work towards a new infrastructure where we will be able to improve the stream stability and offer more bug fixing and future improvements over time.

 

What to expect during the maintenance period:

Your station's stream will be interrupted for 1 to 5 minutes during maintenance. 

 

You should be able to enjoy a better and stronger Shoutcast experience the moment the maintenance is over.

Update regarding streaming issues

As some of you might have noticed, there were some streaming issues, and the website was also not available at all times since the beginning of this year.

These were related to our ISP and hardware which was not capable anymore to handle lots of traffic.

Most of the issues have been fixed by hardware replacement and by using new streaming options.

Some changes have been made which could have a huge impact on existing websites and mobile apps using our old stream which has been replaced:

Introducing: Playlist Request System (v4.24)

 

Proud to introduce DesiZone’s Playlist Request System. (Only when signed in into your account)

 

After you created your playlist with songs, you can request this playlist to be played which eventually can be added directly to the queue (instead of the requestlist) only when the playlist has been approved by the DJ.

 

On your every playlist there will be a Playlist Request button, but there are some RULES:

 

• When you click the Playlist Request button, the DJ needs to approve before it can be played

 

• When approved,
  • you will receive an email
  • you can add the songs to the queue whenever you want
  • changes to the playlist is not allowed unless you cancel the request

 

• Playlist Request is limited to only once a day, for now1

 

• Only the first 3 songs can be played on your playlist, for now1

 

• Duplicate songs on your playlist will not be played

 

• When requested, the playlist will mark songs red if they are not eligible to play like:
  • Songs that are not in the first three positions
  • Songs that have been played recently

 

1: The daily limitation and amount of songs that you can request to be played is based on your personal level. Based on your choice of song requests, playlist requests, the DJ can raise your level. You will start at level 1.

v4.20 Features a User Login System (which enables the following features):

1. When requesting songs, your (user)name has been automatically filled in

2. Favorite Songs: 

   • Mark song as your Favorite

   • See all your favorite songs in the "My Favorite" page

3. Personal Playlist:

   • Create/edit/delete personal playlists on the "My Playlists" page

   • Add songs to the playlist (of course 😋)

   • Make your personal playlist public or private
     (Viewing playlists made by others is coming soon! ðŸ˜Š)

 

And of course this News page is also "new" ðŸ˜
